Storage

Upside down

After a ride, store the pad in a well-ventilated place, so that the underside of the pad can breath and dry. The best way to store the pad is by hanging it on a saddle rack or similar, upside down so that the underside is facing up. This is especially important if the underside is wet or sweaty.

Never on top of your saddle

Do not store the pad directly on top of your saddle – you risk ruining both the saddle and the pad. If you do however store the pad on top of the saddle, always turn the pad upside down and lay it on the saddle with the top side facing the saddle, and the underside facing up.

Cleaning

Remove dirt and hair

Wool as a material is naturally antibacterial and therefore does not require frequent washing. Remove dirt and hair from the pad as often as possible, to prevent build up.

Note that dark yarn colours may bleed to lighter colours if the pad is washed. Therefore, spot cleaning with minimal water is recommended.

Wash only when you have to

If you do want to wash your pad, use cool water and a small amount of wool detergent. First remove all dirt and hair, then wet the pad and dilute the wool detergent with water. Work the diluted wool detergent into the surface of the pad gently with a soft brush. Rinse, and leave the pad to dry in a sunny spot. Keep in mind that if you get the pad soaked all the way through, it can take a long time for the pad to dry completely. Using a pad that is not completely dry can cause it to go mouldy.

Do not machine wash or tumble dry the pad.
